52 Projects Smoked Turkey Sandwich
Inspired by Keaggy's National Sandwich Month celebration. Bought it at the office cafeteria. Ate it at my desk. The sandwich was great. Sitting at my desk on such a beautiful day -- painful. Following Bill Keaggy's lead here, though I'm starting out a bit late. Keaggy is currently in the midst of celebrating the 6th annual Keaggy.com National Sandwich Month. Throughout the month of August he seeks out or makes a great sandwich, photographs it, and of course, eats it. A worthy project indeed! As you can see from the above video, G had the nerve to show up late to our very important meeting at the excellent Indian food cart on 53rd and Park (pictured below).
All was soon forgiven, however, mainly because the food we were soon eating (pictured below), was so damn good.

The food is as delicious as ever. There are, however, some changes to the scene -- instead of the vendors being on the grass in stands, they are now in trucks on the street (an unfortunate move mandated by the DOH). The lines were always an issue, but they seem to be much much longer now. You can wait for over an hour to put in your order and get your food.
Despite these changes, I still highly recommend going to the Red Hook Ball Fields. It's good to go with a group and split up, each person going to a different line -- one person gets the fruit juice drinks and grilled corn, the other gets the tacos/huaraches, another gets pupusas. The ceviche line tends to be shorter, so you can get that as an appetizer and enjoy it while standing in line for the other types of food. Getting there earlier is also a way to cut down on time in a line.
Also, note that the new Ikea is within walking distance of the ball fields, so you have the option of making a trip to that store as part of your weekend excursion to Red Hook. July 31, 2008 in Food, Photos | Permalink | Comments (0) Fleeting Subway Romance

Brought My Lunch is a photo group to showcase the lunch you brought to work. The goal is to create an incentive to 1) bring lunch to work (instead of buying expensive, less healthy meals around the office) and 2) to bring better lunches to work, lunches that are worthy of not just eating, but photographing. So pack that lunch, break out your camera, and submit your photos to the group pool.
